30 Days Later: My Thoughts on the O4 Air Unit Pro / Mountain SURFING EDYTION by VooDooFPV

Thirty days of shredding mountains, cliffs, and lakes with the O4 Air Unit Pro, and boy, has it been a wild ride. Compared to the O3, they've cranked everything up to eleven—better range, better visuals, better everything! And just so we're clear, this isn’t a paid ad; it’s just pure, unfiltered Voodoo love for a piece of tech that can actually keep up with me.

First Impressions Unboxing the O4 Air Unit Pro, this thing looked so legit and tough, I half expected it to bench press its own box. The upgrade from O3 to O4? A smooth 5-minute affair—just one plug, snap it into place, and boom, we're in business. But here comes the plot twist for us long-range enthusiasts: the cam cable is short! No backseat for the air unit on my 8" drone; it had to shotgun in the front. Good thing my Mario 8 frame had a spot ready, like it knew we’d need a plan B. Unfortunately, there's currently no solution on the market for the short wire, and many of us are eagerly awaiting one.

Another hiccup? The camera mount on the O4 decided to go all high-maintenance on me, turning it into a DIY adventure. I ended up MacGyvering it with two bolts and a dab of hot glue on top. Not the prettiest solution, but hey, no jello on the recording and it holds up like a champ. Until I whip up a custom mount, we’re rolling with this quirky setup—and it's working perfectly!

Performance Review This past month, the O4 Air Unit Pro and I have become best buds in the extreme sport of mountain surfing. The range on this beast? Out of this world. I completely ignored the Mbps indicator and just focused on not turning into festive tree decor. Sure, the DVR doesn’t quite match up to GoPros, but it's still sharp enough to capture my good side as I dart through nature. And let's talk about the low latency—it's the real hero, letting me graze the treetops without risking any aerial decapitations.

My Verdict My verdict for the O4 Air Unit Pro is a solid 8/10. There are still some issues—like the short cam cable—but overall, I'm really happy with it. Price-wise, it’s a great deal for what you get, and since I've got 'GoPro anxiety' and don’t use any action cams on my drone, this unit fits my needs perfectly.

Conclusion Is it worth switching from the O3 to the O4? Absolutely, yes! I'm planning to upgrade all my quads to the O4.
